How do we do it?

We hand inlay the initial it's not a print or dye. The letter or design is hand cut from the original base carpet and another is cut from the second color, then the carpet is inlaid into the base carpet the seams are glued and then the backing is reinforced.

How much does it costs

Carpet costs vary, the cost of an inlay depends on the amount of carpet involved as well as the amount of labor involved. Because the costs vary so completely between different lines of carpet we can give you a general idea once we know what design you would like inlaid into your rug. A simple design like a letter or a monogram will be much less than a complicated four color design. Please send us your request via email or our quote form, we will gladly give you some basic information and then we can send you samples of the carpet for your review, once you decide on the line of carpet we can give you a complete quote.

Shag versus Plush?

If you are looking for a more formal or sculptured look then a plush (or also known as a Saxony) is the way to go, we hand carve the designs after we inlay them so you get a sculptured formal look. However a Shag or frieze is very soft under foot and there are a number of wonderful vibrant colors available now in the shags. We will gladly quote you based on either.

How large are the initial inlays?

The actual size basically depends on the font that you choose but we make the inlay roughly one third of the base dimensions of the rug, not including the contrasting border. We also need to know which way you would like the letter to face, Vertically or Horizontally.
